A Living Strongsville Treasure

Have you ever been walking through the halls and wondered “Who is that kid casually dancing and stomping through the halls growling at people?” Well, if you have the answer to your question is Vinnie Rongone. Vinnie, a freshman this year, has quickly gained much attention from the students in the 5A lunch period. Whether he’s carrying an apple back to his table in his mouth or calling students “schnooks”, Vinnie seems very comfortable with the fact that he’s not exactly like everyone else. Vinnie’s favorite class is biology and he enjoys sitting alone because no one will bother him. He also enjoys video games. Vinnie dressed as Donkey Kong for Halloween this year. He spent the day charging students, pounding his chest, and doing other things Donkey Kong would probably do. Sometimes, Vinnie paces through the lunch room, from table to table listening and watching as students interact but for the most part doesn’t join in. I think the students of SHS could learn a lot from Vinnie. To stop being so a like and learn to be different in their own ways.
Autobiographical Incident Narrative

I can still remember leaving my Spanish class at 1:30 on May 9, 2007 like it was yesterday. That day I was scheduled to take my drivers test for the first time. I anxiously made it through the day. When my mom came to pick me up she asked if I wanted to drive there to get some extra practice but I was much too nervous. Getting your drivers license is a big deal. It means not having to ask for a ride to the mall because now you can drive yourself. It wasn’t just getting my license that made me nervous, but the fear of not passing my first time. When we pulled into the DMV parking lot my mom gave me a piece of trident spearmint gum. Then we walked through the doors and took a seat as I waited for my turn. When it was finally my turn my mom and I were asked to bring the car up to the cones and wait for the highway patrol officer. After a couple of minutes a tall, young man in sunglasses came out of the building and greeted me. He got in the car and told me to begin maneuverability. I put both hangs on the cold, leather steering wheel (at 10 and 2 of course) and began. The next thing I knew I was done. I had passed the hardest part of the test easily. Now it was time to begin the road test. I made my way out of the parking lot, forgetting to make a double stop at a blind intersection. I thought I had failed right then and there but we kept going. We pulled into a neighborhood and after a few minutes we were back at the DMV. When the officer told me I had passed my test I was so relieved yet excited at the same time. That day I learned if you set your mind on a goal and work hard you can accomplish it.
